At Jack & Jill Early Learning, sustainability isn’t just something we teach—it’s how we live each day with the children in our care. We believe that nurturing a love for our planet in these formative years creates lifelong environmental citizens who will care for our world with the same tenderness we show them.

Clothing Exchange Program
Our popular Clothing Exchange Program gives pre-loved children’s clothing a second life while teaching valuable lessons about reusing resources. Families donate clean, good-condition clothing their children have outgrown, select items they need from our weekly clothing containers, and return them to the program when finished. This beautiful cycle creates a sustainability mindset while helping families support one another in our community.

Lunch Leftovers Initiative
Food waste is a global challenge we’re tackling locally through our innovative Lunch Leftovers initiative, which offers families the option to take home extra meals in their own containers. This thoughtful approach reduces landfill waste, provides occasional convenient meal solutions for busy families, and shows children that we value our resources. Parents simply sign our Leftovers Register, acknowledging safe food practices, with ingredients and allergen information shared through our OWNA app.

Recycling and Composting
Sustainability weaves through our daily routines as we involve children in recycling and composting, use natural and recycled materials in our art and play, mindfully conserve water and energy, and choose eco-friendly products where possible. Through these practices, children learn through observation and participation that small, consistent actions make a meaningful difference to our planet. These formative experiences create the foundation for environmental stewardship that lasts a lifetime, as children develop an intuitive understanding that nature is something to be treasured and protected. We’re proud of how our initiatives demonstrate to our children that caring for our world and caring for each other go hand in hand.
